Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community. We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.

We’re really excited about this milestone and want our most loyal fans to be a part of the evolution of PlayStation Home.

In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.

I didn't even know about this when I downloaded the theme. It was odd because it said "Activating" then had to be installed, unlike other themes.

Too bad it's not based on a first come, first serve basis, but by eligibility instead. As for the theme, it'll be available on the site soon for people who don't have access to the PS Store.

It's for real, guys! the next upgrade for the PlayStation Home is coming, and it's gonna be huge! From a Sony press release, and as posted on the PlayStation Blog, we receive details as to what's gonna be included in the swell package. First of, from now on (at least from the moment the next upgrade goes live), you will be able to launch into any PS3 game directly from Home. No more of those logout hassles. For now, though, the titles that will be fully supporting game launching are Street Fighter IV, Resistance 2, MotorStorm and Far Cry 2. We're sure they'll be adding more later on,..
